Just some feedback about the current state:
Offcourse the plan above did not work as imagine allows to write metadata but does not persist it.
However i found i way to make this work via ThumbnailService and the ImageThumbnailGenerator. The WIP PR is WIP : FEATURE: Image focal points by mficzel · Pull Request #5127 · neos/neos-development-collection · GitHub … still ugly as hell but working since last friday.
I am now optimistic that this can be cleaned up. A little ui-adjustment will be needed to allow setting a FP for a new ImageVariant but that should not be too too difficult.
Since i will be in the canadian wilderness for august i will continue in september unless the bears decide otherwise.
