No Problem Christian. First of all not to be missunderstood, I didnt’ experience this with NEOS.
There are systems (FTP servers, web portals, …) which can’t cope with certain special characters within passwords. Potential characters can be |"$%/&?!<>()[]{}~`´#’=-_+*~.,;:^°. But you never know. 
Unfortunately it’s possible to create passwords with these characters without any problem. But if you try to log in it results in the message that “user or password is not correct”. Maybe the escaping doens’t work correct in the error case.
